Summary

Devices Used: myTAP with Mouth Shield

The study concluded that OAT with a mouth shield (myTAP) is a promising adjunct for managing OSA-related MB and respiratory issues in periodontitis patients.

Mouth Breathing and Sleep Parameters:
OAT+ significantly reduced MB from a median of 8.9% at T0 to 1.9% at T3 (p=0.022), indicating improved nasal breathing. RDI decreased from 22.1 to 12.4 events/h (p=0.009), with supine RDI dropping from 22.6 to 12.7 events/h (p=0.027). Oxygen desaturation index improved from 12.9 to 3.2 events/h (p=0.025), and oxygen desaturation drop reduced from 5.1% to 3.5% (p=0.025). Snoring percentage decreased non-significantly from 26.1% to 4.5% (p=0.10).
